Simplest/Easiest way to setup a remote database instance?

I'm looking at the installation of a remote (internal) database instance for a project (with 2 or more collaborators). What is the simplest way to setup a remote database? It almost seems that installing the Neo4j desktop on a server and then making sure the ports were open would work. Could it be that simple or am I missing something?

That's what we are doing for our current POC work. As long as you can access your server via DNS and hit the port, you should be fine.
