The DB is constantly crashing leading to down time and slowing down development , does anybody have advice on how to fix/improve this ?

Without more details its hard to say what the issue is / where the fix is.
What version of Neo4j? Has it been unstable since day 1 or just recently? Are there any errors / stack traces reported in the logs\debug.log ?
