I have updated the neo4j Desktop app recently and now I am not able to reopen it. I debug the log and find out that it is looking for some project id that exists but in the error log, it shows not found.

This Project already exists in the directory

/Users/bot/Library/Application Support/Neo4j Desktop/Application/projects

Any help would be appreciated.

This issue has been arises due to 1.4.3 upgrade of Desktop version.

I have fixed the issue through following step in Mac OS.

Step 1 : Run the Neo4j Desktop app, since in my case desktop app itself was not opening so i open the Neo4j Desktop in Application folder and clicked on Show Package Contents.

Step 2: clicked on neo4j Desktop executable file.

Once the neo4j server started, I got to know the error is about missing projects. as shown in the logs present in the above comments.

To fix the issue "Error: Relate project with tag neo4j-desktop-id-", I open the persist file in this location $HOME/Library/Application Support/Neo4j Desktop/Application/persist and copy the projects.json to a temporary notepad file before clearing the data.

Now I deleted the JSON data present in projects.json and follow step 2.

Now I was able to see the desktop app running, I upgraded the Neo4j browser and desktop and then paste the JSON data back into projects.json and restarted the Desktop App.

I successfully fixed the issue after spending 3-4 hours on this.
