Hello from Fred in San Diego

I am a bioinformatician working on a Neo4j database that supports genomic and clinical data related to ALS. I have a prototype ETL application written in Java & Scala that integrates data from a wide range of public databases. I am revising that application's codebase to Kotlin and Neo4j 4.0 as well as incorporating additional data sources. This work is based on a similar project described in: Lysenko, A, et al. "Representing and querying disease networks using graph databases", BioData Mining , 2016, 9:23 ,https://doi.org/10.1186/s13040-016-0102-8. My objectives for this project are to provide an integrated data source for ALS-related data and to demonstrate that graph databases represent an excellent technology for querying highly integrated biological data.
